Brushing and flossing can lead to a bright and healthy smile, but good dental care is more than toothpaste in a brush. Some people are not aware of how to keep good oral health. Check our 5 tips for today!
Tip number 1: Use a Soft Toothbrush
Using a soft bristle toothbrush very gently over your teeth, making soft circler movements to clean better your teeth. Brushing gently your teeth will be less abrasive to your teeth and gums.
Tip Number 2: Flossing Correctly.
The best way to floss is: gently put the floss between the teeth and gently move up and down along the tooth surface. Do not put to much pressure on the floss to not damage your gums
Tip Number 3: Brush at Least Twice a Day
If you brush your teeth after every meal, wait a while after you eat, specially if you had something acidic like spaghetti sauce. Is best to wait at least 30 min because the acidic component wears away the enamel and you wanna wait before you brush otherwise you can actually damage the enamel.
Tip Number 4: Try to Stop Smoking
Normally saliva acts as a defence system in your mouth, it washes away plaque and food particles that are building up and keeps your mouth clean, also the enzymes and antibodies and saliva destroy the bacteria on your teeth and prevent cavities, also keeping your breath smell fresh in the process but that isn’t the case if you are a smoker, the more you smoke, the more these toxins start to affect the saliva. Eventually, instead of protecting you, your saliva starts to harm you, even becoming an agent in oropharyngeal and oral cancer.
Tip Number 5: See Your Dentist Twice a Year
Visit your dentist regularly, ideally every six months so they can track your horal health, this way they can anticipate any potential issues, which means, less invasive treatments and less costly treatments.
