Crowding Teeth

30 / 09 / 2020

What is Crowding teeth?

Crowding teeth is when you do not have enough space for all the teeth to fit within the jaws. The teeth get displaced or rotated because they are bigger than the available space in the jaw.

Another situation that may cause the Teeth Crowding could be because of early or late loss of baby teeth, the imbalanced eruption of teeth, or even genetic reasons.

It is way more difficult to clean all the surfaces of the teeth when they are crowded and also increases the chances of having tooth decay and gum disease.

How to treat overcrowding teeth?

Creating extra space by the expansion of the arches or extraction of teeth. Once you have the right space between the teeth, braces are used to align the teeth.

What type of braces exists to straighten the teeth?

Traditional Braces

The traditional braces are the metal brackets and wires that most people picture when they hear the word “braces.” However, nowadays with the advanced and modern brackets, they are much smaller than they used to be. You can also have them with Ceramic brackets that help to blend in with your teeth and be less noticeable during the treatment.

Pros:
Slightly Cheaper than the Clear braces

Cons:
Most visible type of braces

Difficult to clean

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces use the same system as the traditional metal braces, the difference is that the brackets and wires are placed on the inside of teeth.

Pros:
Invisible from the outside

Cons:
Difficult to clean; more expensive;
For severe cases it may not be appropriated;
Can be uncomfortable at first;
To make the regular adjustments it takes longer and they are more difficult than the traditional braces.

Invisalign

The Invisalign treatment uses less invasive materials and removable treatments, which are used for shorter times. It consists of custom-made aligners, depending on your situation you can get 18 to 30 removable aligners that will help you straighten your teeth.

Pros:
Almost invisible;
Faster Treatment;
You can eat and drink normally;
No adjustments needed, just need to change aligners;
Comfortable and convenient;

Cons:
More expensive option;
Not suitable for Children;
It may not be suitable for all serious dental problems;
